A montage mish-mash + 2013 Races

So did you miss me?? I know I've slacked a little - ok, maybe a lot - in my posts, but between illness, crazy work, injury, consequent lack of workouts, and then playing catch up, it's been very busy, and it all comes down to this:

New Year's Day morning walk, great way to start 2013!

Sledding - Blind Bay Golf Course

After a particularly cold, snowy, winter run

Downtown Calgary - my predawn morning commute

In my unintended hiatus, I travelled a little, played a little, ran a little, and ate way too much. How bad was the eating? So bad, I've gained all the weight I managed to lose last year. Yep, I was an idiot. Back to clean eating and smaller portions now.

However, I am happy to see that I managed to keep up my runs despite a hip injury and today's shin splint. And rarely post a run time over 6:30 min/km now. Once upon a time, 6:45 was the standard.

At the beginning of 2013, I had a very vague idea of what runs/races I wanted to do this year. Now, not only have I planned out my races, I've actually registered myself in half of those races already!! Here are my list of races, noting the ones I've already registered:

APRIL 21 - REGISTERED - the Vancouver Sun Run 10k. I'm running this, not so much for me, but for my sister, who is running her first race AND it's a 10k!! I'm excited to see her run, she has told that I've inspired her and she's been keeping it up.   We are part of a team called the "Robson Rebels".

MAY 2 - REGISTERED - the Skirtchaser 5k. I just found out about it, this is the first time that Skirtsports has organized a race in Calgary AND I would love to own a pair of their running skirts, which is part of the race swag. Not only that, it starts in the East Village, an up-and-coming neighbourhood just east of downtown Calgary. Win-win-win!!

MAY 26 - REGISTERED - the Calgary Marathon AstraZeneca 5k. Our family of 3 enjoyed the 5k so much last year, we decided to register right away at half price registration fee!

JUNE 29 - REGISTERED - the Color Me Rad 5k. I wanted to do this fun run so badly last year AND I even won a free entry thanks to Cori at Read.Write.Run.Mom. However, they had to postpone the run until this year, but I was so glad to register right away this year, as it sold out within hours after they opened registration. This is going to be another family run, so fun times to be had by all!

JULY 7 - NOT YET - the Stampede Road Race. I ran the 10k last year and my daughter ran her very first race (kids' race - 400m) as well last year. We all had a fantastic time!!

SEPTEMBER 28 - REGISTERED - Melissa's Road Race 10k. I ran this last year and got a PR on this, despite running up a mountain, so I am happy that I was able to register again for it this year. No PR goals for this one, as I will be doing a very special GOAL RACE the weekend before....

SEPTEMBER 22 - NOT YET - Diva Duathlon. That's right! This year's goal race is in fact a run-bike-run event in Turner Valley and I'm very excited to work towards this goal. I will need to train on my bike starting this year, and learn to adjust to 2 sport event, such as riding a bike, deal with transition, etc.

OCTOBER - NOT YET - Gorilla Run 15k. This is my distance goal for running this year. This is a charity run for the zoo.

NOVEMBER - NOT YET - Catch the Elves. If I don't become an elf, then I want to chase one! I have not decided what distance yet.

DECEMBER - NOT YET - Resolution Run 5k. I have run this in the past two years and it's awesome loads of fun plus so many of my running friends are there! Fantastic!

So these are the running events I will be at, or I aim to be at. I will update as I go along.

And I guess that means I need to get back to blogging, right???
