We hadn't biked in 2 months, and for myself - I hadn't run last week since Thanksgiving, not in any real way, anyways. I was motivated to run this weekend, and on Saturday, it was such a nice and warm day, we thought we take the bikes out for possibly the last spin this year.
Biking was nice, we ran errands, took our daughter to swim class, to various eats and also just enjoyed cycling in its own right. It's been too long away from our bikes. Here were a couple of the eats:

We discovered Jane Bond Mongolian Grill on the way back from running our errands. They were at the ContainR Festival/Fluid Festival. As far as I can tell, it was some kind of arts festival in shipping containers. We tried out a few eats - hubby and I had lamb while my daughter had a kid size chicken meal. They were fantastic, even more so as it was getting windy and cool while we were eating our piping hot lunches! Thanks Jane Bond!
Today, I came to the first Sunday group run in 8 weeks. Saw my running buddy R and the first words out of my mouth were "Where the hell were you???" He was incognito for most of the summer (while I was just incognito for half of it, having gone to Melbourne). Anyways, between injuries and just life in general, he hasn't been running much, but we decided to run 8k together and see what happens.
Of course, he was still faster than me. But considering I ran 5k yesterday and biked 17k, and I'm also sick with my daughter's cold...I'm not complaining of my 6:50 pace.
Last week, I ran with my sister, who has been inspired by me to take up running. Yay! I ran a lot with my sister and therefore kept low distance and slow paces. That was really nice to run easy and to share tips I learned from my running experience. Now she is addicted to running, although she only has time for the weekend. Coolness.
I've managed to run during every vacation including our Maui and Melbourne trips this year, and I'm very proud of that. It really has helped me maintain my weight on vacation despite the huge eats. I still have the same 15 lbs to lose, but now that we have no more trips so I can focus on good, cleaning eating. Until Christmas at least.
Finally, I'll leave you with how I feel my running has been like this summer with all these trips:

Hope to change this in the next week or so.

The bison burgers we want to BBQ for you are good clean eating. Any run on vacation counts double, you know.
ReplyDeleteMmmm....bison burgers.
DeleteI had no idea vacay runs count as double, good to know!! ;)
I feel the exact same way. My diet has taken a turn for the worse. I need to get back on track
